Ambrosia Tønnesen (1859-1948) was the first female sculptor in Norway. Ambrosia was a woman who chose differently, both in profession, interests, family life, wardrobe and appearance. She was independent, brave and original and stood out from the crowd.
Bergen City Museum are proud to have been given the opportunity of producing an exhibition on Ambrosia at Hordamuseet. Her home, Runeplassen, was moved here and rebuilt at the museum grounds in 1995.
